“A simple act can have a big impact to others”

I would like to share this story not because I want to brag about it but because I would like to send my appreciation to some people who never fail to support and love me in everything that I do…

The upcoming Ms. MSC Michelle Single Mother Charity Pageant 2019, is a pageant for a cause. This is for single mothers out there who continuously love and look after their children by being both the mother and the father… This is an event by Ms. Michelle Garcia, which will be held at Firewater Feast Station on July 7, 2019 at 6pm.

Right after the photoshoot at Firewater FEAST Station, I noticed a candidate who seemed to be a little shy and a bit timid. I figured that she’s lacking her confidence because of her smile…

I couldn’t sleep that night and I kept on thinking how I can be of big help to this mother… I heard about her story and for her, she would rather spend money on the school of her children than to spend for her personal use.

The ff. day, I talked to several friends who are into dentistry. I really wanted to help this mother to bring back her confidence so she can do her best for the upcoming event.

And guess what? They did not think twice about helping me/us in this advocacy for single mothers.

Thank you Docjojo P. Feliciano Jr. Dra. Bamby Ramos De Vera Dra. Merly Arroyo, Dra. Joyce, The Dental Clinic Feliciano & Associates for helping me in helping this mother. I know that you are all busy and are all attending to everybody’s needs, but you still took the time to help me in this advocacy.

Thank you so much for the love!

For others, this is just a simple act, but for us, this is a big help.

May God bless you all more and more each day…

How do you define SUPERHEROES?

©2016 TheAnonymousWritersNotebook

What does it really mean by the word SUPERHEROES

Do we really have SUPERPOWERS?

If you’d search for the meaning of the word SUPERHERO, you’d get the following definition…

  1. type of costumed heroic character who possesses supernatural or superhuman powers and who is dedicated to fighting crime, protecting the public, and usually battling supervillains. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superhero
  2. a benevolent fictional character with superhuman powers, such as Superman.  https://www.google.com.ph/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=superhero+definition
  3. a fictional character who has amazing powers (such as the ability to fly) http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/superhero
  4. a hero, especially in children’s comic books and television cartoons, possessing extraordinary, often magical powers. http://www.dictionary.com/browse/superhero
  5. a character in stories or movies who has special powers, such as the ability to fly, that are used for fighting evil or helping people  http://dictionary.cambridge.org/us/dictionary/english/superhero

If you would notice, they are giving us the same definition. Maybe not the same set of words, but same idea. Wikipedia, Google, Merriam-webster, Dictionary, Cambridge and such. But do you really think SUPERHEROES are those wearing costumes, those who can fly, those who have amazing powers?

At one point in time, we believed. Especially when we were young. We believed that we can be superheroes and that we can have amazing powers. But as you grow older, you get to understand the REAL MEANING of SUPERHEROES…

This is when you do not have to wear costumes, you do not have to have video cameras and reporters just like what we see on TV. This is when you do not have to fly just to save someone.

Being a superhero would mean “HELPING”. Any act of helping, big or small, can already make a big impact on people. Helping poor ones, helping even the rich ones, helping animals or so – it is already an act of helping. HELPING is your SUPERPOWER. You can be a SUPERHERO yourself. Anybody can be a SUPERHERO, even without those capes and masks.

Now check this out! I met these people from the Philippines, who became superheroes themselves.

So who are they?

They call themselves ZINCO BROTHERS. A brotherhood of young people who have been friends for almost 2 decades now. They have been together since they were young. Through ups and downs, they have seen each other’s downsides and are all very familiar with each other’s flaws. From rural to urban, they still come back to what they consider SECOND HOME.

A few years back, they decided to name the group ZINCO, where they used to hang out when they were young and where they met all the members. One day, they thought of something different from what they usually do. Almost every month, they would drink, hang out, party and all. And then they all decided to do something productive or fruitful. To HELP others who are in need. They can still remember the first time they donated to a certain Orphanage in the Philippines. They started young. The children from the orphanage were young too.

And then they all decided to do it annually. So every year, they prepare goods, stuff, and food for the children of that Orphanage. They only started with a SACK OF RICE. That’s it. They only wanted to help. Their only concern then was to make other people smile. Nothing more – nothing less.

And now? They can already provide boxes of fruits, boxes of toys, boxes of clothes, boxes of rice and goods for each child and staff, they can now provide a day full of fun, games, and celebration. They participate yearly by preparing food and sharing money for them to be able to make the event for the kids successful. They all agreed to celebrate their anniversary every December with these kids.

karlos bday 5.jpgFor a long time, they all kept this to themselves. They believed that they do not have to tell the world about their good deeds. Then again, I still tried my luck to have an interview with them because I believe that, we do not have to show this to people for fame, but instead to INSPIRE others in HELPING and doing good deeds.

When they started it was just a sack of rice sent to the Orphanage. There were only a few of them. The orphans were young then. And now, together with the wives, sisters and their children, they all HELP each other to be able to make these waifs smile every Christmas Season. And the latest PHOTO? It was taken last year. Some of the kids are already adults. All the members participated in the said event wearing different costumes of SUPERHEROES.

See, they have been superheroes themselves since the day they started making these children happy. Wearing costumes last year was just a BONUS. To make them happier.

So, what does it really take to be a SUPERHERO? Nothing but A GOOD HEART. Giving without expecting anything in RETURN.

Looking forward to having another interview with these people in the next few years. Let’s see what the theme is going to be like this December… 🙂
